Introducing OLHNA's new Security Director, Jonathan Venechanos. Jonathan leads the 25+ volunteers who are officially trained and registered for the Volunteers in Patrol (VIP) Program. Jonathan moved to OLH in 2015. He is a native Dallasite and enjoys a rewarding career in aviation. He enjoys tinkering with cars, a daily run in the neighborhood and kayaking at White Rock Lake. Jonathan volunteered for this role because he is "interested with keeping the neighborhood safe and would like to get our VIP members patrolling the area more frequently."
The VIP Program is a neighborhood watch group designated to observe and report unsafe or suspicious activity in the Old Lake Highlands neighborhood through a drive-through of streets and alleys. Volunteers work in pairs and typically patrol 1-1.5 hours at convenient times. Cars making a patrol have designated magnetic signs on the car doors and will have a flashing yellow light on top of the car.
Volunteers are required to pass a background check and attend a four hour VIP training session conducted by the Dallas Police Department at the Northeast Dallas Police Substation located at 9915 East Northwest Highway. The next training session is scheduled for Saturday, August 6th from 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Help us keep the neighborhood safe by volunteering for the VIP Program today! Statistics show that neighborhoods with volunteer watch groups have lower incidents of crime. Questions? Contact Jonathan at security@oldlakehighlands or call 469-766-024
