About 6 weeks a ago, there was a mama and her 4 pups, they were owner surrendered at Dallas Animal Shelter. Because the shelter was full, they were about to be euthanized, if a foster did not intervene. Luckily, Amelia Cardenas, an OLH resident, offered her home to the family. Things were going great until the puppies start to have symptoms that indicated they might have parvo. This is a virus that is common in small puppies who are around other dogs that are not vaccinated. It is a very contagious illness and can be deadly for newborns even with early treatment. Unfortunately, one of the 4 puppies past away. The remaining 3 puppies survived and are happy and healthy. The mom has been adopted by a family in New York and almost all of the puppies have either been adopted or are in the process of being adopted. Amelia is adopting one for herself and a neighbor a few streets over has adopted the 2nd puppy. We are so happy that this story has such a happy ending and that Amelia is our neighbor.

Buckley, the 6 month old Beagle who had a freedom ride, thanks to Megan Prast, less than 3 weeks ago, has found his furever home! The new owner has changed his name to Benton. But Buckley... I mean, Benton, will be forever be in our thoughts. His story reminds me, that even in our darkest days, we should always have hope, or if you are a pet, Megan Prast, in your neighborhood, because she gives back life to these animals!
