July 2021 Yard of the Month

Congratulations to Aaron Williams, our July Yard of the Month winner! Aaron purchased his home in January of 2018. At that time, the front yard was dominated by a large and unattractive mulberry tree, and holly bushes surrounded the home’s foundation. His first order of business was to remove both, giving him a fresh palate to work with. In 2020, he had his home painted a beautiful dark sage green, which presented a neat opportunity to experiment with foliage colors and textures that pop against the house. Aaron’s front yard has a beautiful mix of ornamental trees, grasses, and blooming pollinator plants. His collection includes an Autumn Blaze Maple, Texas Mountain Laurel, Merlot Redbud, Atlas Cedar, Catmint, Pink Muhly, Mealycup Sage, Artemisia, Copper King Hibiscus, Ruby Falls Redbud, Scabiosa, John Fannin Summer Phlox, and Spanish Lavender, among others. He described his backyard as his experimental zone, where he is examining light patterns and trying out plants to see what works. Like many of us during the past year, Aaron spent a great deal of time “pandemic” planting. His plant passion is evident, and his yard is lovely! You won’t want to miss it. Congratulations Aaron!
