Old Lake Highlands Neighborhood Association Blog
East Lake Dental opened their doors in September 2017, next door to El Vecino (at Northcliff & Buckner). When asked about why he chose the location, Dr. Brent DeSutter says that he “Love[s] the ‘close-knit neighborhood in a big city’ feel of OLH, and the people are so friendly and supportive.” he adds, “I get to do what I love for a living, and then after work I can go for a jog by the lake! This ‘hood is seriously awesome!”
After graduating from dental school in San Antonio, Dr. DeSutter did a residency at the VA Hospital in Portland, OR. He then practiced in Colorado Springs before deciding it was time to start his own practice near family, in Texas. East Lake Dental treats all ages, and their favorite thing to hear is, “I never thought I would look forward to going to the dentist!” This super friendly staff also loves to meet people, so even if you are not looking for a dentist don’t hesitate to drop by to say “hi!”. Check out their website for more information: www.eastlakedds.com Thank you, Dr. DeSutter, for supporting OLH

A new Mexican restaurant opening in Old Lake Highlands marks a return to Tex-Mex from a well-versed vet. Called El Vecino, the restaurant comes from John McBride, great-grandson of Mike Martinez, who co-founded the El Fenix chain. It will open in the fall in the White Rock Center, formerly Lake Highlands Village, at the corner of Buckner Boulevard and Northcliff Drive.
