Councilmember Blackmon asked that we share the following updates with you all:

COVID-19 Vaccine Registration and Registration Sites: COVID-19 vaccine registration continues to be a priority for both the City of Dallas and Dallas County. Dallas County has set up a new vaccine registration hotline to enroll residents. Residents can call 1-855- IMMUNE9 seven days a week from 7am- 7pm for assistance. Hotline flyers are attached. In addition, the District 9 Office has worked with the Park and Recreation Department to setup Harry Stone Recreation Center as a COVID-19 vaccine registration site. Residents can come and get in-person assistance with registration in both English and Spanish. Hours for Harry Stone and all of the other registration sites can be found HERE. Social distancing, PPE and temperature checks are required for in-person assistance at Harry Stone. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please email district9@dallascityhall.com

White Rock Lake Dam Update: Updates regarding the White Rock Lake Dam project can be found HERE. The WRL Dam Maintenance Project is part of on-going maintenance that includes dam and spillway concrete repairs, slope stabilization improvements, and vegetation management within the footprint of the dam. As safety is a top priority, there will be no public access allowed in construction areas including the old fish hatchery. White Rock Lake patrons are advised not to enter the construction zone and follow all signage. A photo of the project is attached. If you have any questions please contact Estela Ornelas, Sr. Public Affairs Officer at 214-671-9554 or estela.ornelas@dallascityhall.com.

Small Business Continuity Fund Grant Program: The City of Dallas has reopened applications for the Small Business Continuity Fund (SBCF) grant program. The SBCF grant program was designed to assist small businesses with revenue under $1.5 million that create or retain one or more full-time low-to-moderate income jobs. Eligible businesses must be located within the city of Dallas, demonstrate a 25% loss due to the Covid-19 pandemic since March 2020 and were operating prior to September 1, 2019. The maximum grant size is $15,000 and is sized on three months of business revenue or expenses. Eligibility applications will be accepted HERE and will be accepted from February 3 through February 10, 2021. All eligible applications will then be entered into a lottery to generate a ranked list of businesses that will be invited to submit a complete application. If you have questions about any of the required documents or need assistance, please reach out to SBCF@dallascityhall.com.

Welcome Chief Garcia: This week, the City of Dallas welcomed Chief Eddie Garcia as its new Chief of Police at the Dallas Police Department. The District 9 Office looks forward to working with and supporting the new Chief to assist in making East Dallas safer. If you have any public safety concerns, please email district9@dallascityhall.com

Skillman Street Racing: Neighbors in Merriman Park reached out to the District 9 office to discuss the ongoing problems they are having with street racing along Skillman and Abrams. In an effort to address the issue, the D9 and D10 office (DMPT McGough) are hosting a virtual meeting for neighbors to talk with the Dallas Police Department and Transportation Department. The purpose of this meeting will be to discuss the street racing specifically along Skillman, Abrams, and the Merriman Park neighborhood. However, if you have additional street racing concerns please email district9@dallascityhall.com so our office can assist you. Our office is aware that this is a citywide issue and we are committing to ending it.
